Counselling Services

At Ink and Roots Counselling I believe in being up front about what online counselling is, what it costs and what to expect from your online sessions.

What is humanistic counselling?

Humanistic counselling is a warm, client-focused approach to therapy that puts you at the centre of the process. It’s built on the belief that everyone has the capacity for personal growth and self-discovery when given the right support.

You’ll be encouraged to explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe, non-judgemental space. Your counsellor will listen with empathy, respect, and understanding, helping you reflect on your experiences, values, and emotions for any situation. Rather than giving advice or imposing solutions, they’ll work alongside you to empower you to find your own answers.

This approach can help with a wide range of issues, such as anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, or simply a desire to better understand yourself. Many clients find it a deeply rewarding process that fosters greater self-awareness, self-acceptance, and emotional wellbeing.

How do sessions work?

Before you start counselling you'll meet with your counsellor for a free session which is known as an assessment. This is so that the therapist can get an initial overview of what is going on for you, explain a bit more about how they work and for you to ensure you are happy and comfortable to move forward with sessions.

The counsellor will also provide you with a contract for counselling which explains everything clearly to you and will go through this with you to ensure you are comfortable. It's really important to make sure you have full understanding of the what to expect prior to starting your counselling, so if you have any questions please do ask.

What does it cost?

The cost for counselling sessions, following the first initial free assessment session (30 minutes) is £60 per session of counselling (50 minutes).

Discounts may be available for students who are studying counselling that have required hours for their course but these slots are limited so please drop an enquiry email for more information.
